A SUMMER TO REMEMBER WITH CHAMPAGNE LAURENT-PERRIER BLANC DE BLANCS BRUT NATURE

July, 2021

Dive into summer with Champagne Laurent-Perrier’s latest offering: the Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature. Launched at the end of 2019, this cuvée reflects the House’s innovative spirit and winemaking savoir-faire. A pioneer in the brut nature category, having first produced zero-dosage champagne in the 19th century, Laurent-Perrier brought back this style in 1981 with the introduction of their Ultra Brut.

Laurent-Perrier is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the freshness and elegance of Chardonnay, long considered the pearl of the House. This commitment to Chardonnay was cemented in the early 2000s with the purchase of new Chardonnay premier cru vineyards. These vineyards yielded ideal grapes to produce Blanc de Blancs with exceptional elegance and freshness.

This cuvée is noteworthy for its bright, balanced flavors and impeccable food-friendliness. Sommeliers from across the country share their appreciation for the Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, as well as their favorite summertime food pairings.

Justin Chin, Beverage Director of Ju-Ni

“Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs separates itself from the rest of the pack as they have the perfect recipe for the category and style. Every sip you take of the Blanc de Blancs is refreshing with great structure and complexity.”

Summer pairing of choice: “Copper River Salmon is so rich and flavorful, it only made sense to match a high-quality product with another.”

Sean McEnroe, CS, Wine & Beverage Director of Matsuhisa

“What is most striking about the Blanc de Blancs is the balance. Laurent-Perrier makes their cuvée with enough concentration and weight to show fruit on the finish, rather than just acid. There is a hint of lemon meringue pie to balance the crisp apple, bright lime and quince notes. It is a mouth-filling sip without leaving you feeling heavy.”

Summer pairing of choice: “Creamy-spicy tempura rock shrimp. The effervescence of the Blanc de Blancs cleanses the palate to allow each bite to be as flavorful as the first.”

Brahm Callahan, MS, CEO of Faucet.Wine

“The Blanc de Blancs is the perfect balance between generosity and finesse. Laurent Perrier uses grapes grown in both the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, which brings freshness and a different profile than other Blanc de Blancs. This, combined with the incredible dedication of Laurent-Perrier winemakers and their talented Chef de Cave, Michel Fauconnet [who also holds this position at Salon], has made a Blancs de Blancs that has set a very high bar indeed.”

Summer pairing of choice: “Poached lobster served simply with drawn butter and fresh corn.” Brahm finds the Blanc de Blancs to be ideal for this pairing, as it is “bright and refreshing, while maintaining great weight and texture.”

Kevin Bratt, Wine Director of Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

“The Blanc de Blancs is sourced from the finest Chardonnay vineyards, which, along with perfect execution and a heightened level of texture and complexity, make it really special. We stress balance in every aspect of life, and this wine embodies that perfectly from start to finish.”

Summer pairing of choice: “Large stone crab claws and charred octopus with corona beans. The Blanc de Blancs delivers just the right amount of ripe citrus and floral hints, creating a perfect balance for the salty, buttery richness of the seafood.”
